Holiday Beauty: Glittering Nails from Lippmann Collection

For the majority of the year, I'm the kind of girl to embrace a good metallic, inappropriately timed smokey eye, or even a hint of shimmer, but a chunky glitter doesn't flickr on my radar until the Holiday season.  When the crisp hint of Fall air strikes and grocery stores begin stocking turkeys by the truckloads, I pull out the glitter with wild abandon. The instant I saw Lippmann Collection's Holiday colors, I knew I would be hooked.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, famed manicurist Deborah Lippmann has created the current gem of my life - Superstar (pictured at left).  The brown base makes it an easy slide into Fall's dark colors while the bronze glitter pigment gives it the special boost it needs to be Holiday approriate.  This formula differs from other glitter formulas - as you can see on my nails at left after two coats - the glitter and brown base are easy to apply, with even glitter distribution and not a hint of streaks.

Included in the Holiday collection is an appropriately named pink-red glitter named Holiday.  Holiday is a color suspiciously similar to MAC's Love Alert dazzleglass from the Red She Said release.  I'm sure once the novelty of Superstar has worn off and I begin to see Christmas decorations, Holiday will promptly be applied.

The only downfall of these two colors, as with any other glitter polish, is not the application but the removal.  Chunky glitter is notoriously tricky and can often create a rough surface after the polish is applied.  Personally I'll suffer for such a unique look, but check out All Lacquered Up's review of the collection if you're the cautious type.

Rounding out the Holiday collection are Maneater, described as a bittersweet chocolate, and Icing On The Cake, a pinky-white frost that reminds me of frosting on a creamy-dreamy wedding cake.  Lippmann Collection polishes retail for $15 each, and are reknown for their color selection.  Start planning your Holiday looks ladies - Thanksgiving is only 23 days away.
